The City of Albuquerque requested artists to design a gateway to the historic Barelas neighborhood. Mr. Lamb's proposal, which was accompanied by a 1/2" scale model, suggested two massive cast concrete pylons, 12 feet tall. Mounted into either side of both pylons were to be 5 foot by 6 foot terrazzo murals symbolically representing four major historical influences of the area: The Chihuahua Trail, The Acequia Madre, The Santa Fe Railroad, and Route 66. All are passageways, be it commerce, water, or people.
